Lexip Pu94 – Designed for a Purpose

The beauty of the Lexip Pu94 wired mouse is oddly specific. This is not your average mouse, and for those of you that play primarily the FPS, Moba, or RPG genre, there’s probably a better mouse out there suited to your personal needs. I for one currently own three mice that I individually dedicate towards the type of game that I’m playing. Some say that’s ridiculous, and others say “I saw that new mouse of yours. You’d better have rent ready.” If you’re as serious about gaming as I am, then your answer will be “these are things I need, not just want.” So when the engineers at Lexip decided to create an original, highly particular mouse, they understood there would already be a market ready and waiting. The Lexip Pu94 is the genetically engineered love child of an overly expensive and complicated joystick, and a mouse that can’t quite provide the control you’re looking for. It’s the perfect balance between navigating a three dimensional space, while still having the ability to easily interact with the environment around you. I’ll admit it takes a while to get used to, however once your movements become muscle memory, you can cruise across a 3D space with both precision and speed.

In order to take full advantage of the Lexip Pu94, it’s recommended that you stick with games that require a consistent movement across a 3D environment. This includes games in which you’re piloting a spacecraft, for instance Elite Dangerous: Horizons, No Man’s Sky, or the highly anticipated Star Citizen. Most PC gamers have no quarrels with using a keyboard to control a spacecraft, and a mouse to control the view. However, the ability to control both with simply your mouse is certainly no small feat. I spent a fair amount of time using the Pu94 in conjunction with Elite Dangerous, and I can honestly say that after the introductory learning curve, I felt significantly more control than I would with only a standard mouse and keyboard setup. For those of you who drive a manual car as opposed to an automatic, you’ll understand the difference this type of control makes to the enjoyment of gaming. To make your spaceship fly down, simply push the front head of the mouse downwards. You want to climb fast and to the right? Push the body of the mouse back and to the right. There’s even a secondary joystick pictured above that controls acceleration and deceleration. The goal is to allow the player to control the experience  of space flight with only one input device, allowing for a much more personal experience of the simulation. If that’s not enough to get you interested, remember that a 3D mouse can dramatically affect your play style in any game that enjoys 3D space. I wouldn’t use this particular mouse for a game like LoL, Dota 2, or Starcraft until I was confident that I could quickly interact within a highly competitive arena. Yet, for games such as Civilization, Sim City, Anno 1800, or Cities: Skylines, the ability to navigate such massive environments in a quick, fluid and confident manner is extremely beneficial. By applying pressure, you can move your birds eye camera in any direction you choose. By manipulating the secondary joystick, you can control both your zoom functions, and rotate the camera in a 360° field. With a keyboard and mouse setup, your city has the habit of becoming unrecognizable after rotating your field of view. With the ease of the Lexip Pu94, the enjoyment of your creations take on a whole new perspective. I hate to sound overly cliché, but this mouse has revolutionized the way I enjoy such games. Lastly, Lexip has incorporated their patented adhesive ceramic “feet” onto all their designs, which allow for an extremely smooth glide on any and all mouse pads. Similar to hyperglides but without the extreme slip, these ceramic feet can make any mouse feel significantly more high end. Overall, it’s just a bonus to an already superior product.
