Masaya Nakamura has passed away this past week on January 22nd, 2017 at the age of 91. Founder of Namco and a great influence in the shaping of the gaming industry to date. Dubbed as the “Father of Pac-Man” that franchise alone is the highest grossing game of all time! Bringing in $3.5 billion by 1990. Which in todays market equates to a whopping $7.68 billion after adjusting for inflation, not bad for a yellow ball with a mouth that eats other balls!
Nakamura was influential in the industry, with games such as the aforementioned Pac-Man, which in turn spawned Ms.Pacman. Leading to other beloved games such as Tekken, Ridge Racer, Glaxian, among others.
He was inducted to the International Video Game Hall of Fame in Ottumwa, Iowa August 2010. So from every modern day gamer we want to say THANK YOU for everything that Masaya Nakamura has done for the gaming industry!
