UFC 3 Beta First Impressions

Its Time!!!!!… Almost. Ufc 3 beta has come and gone. The beta opened on December 1st and ended on December 5th 2017. It gave the player access to a couple of modes like fight now and online quick fight which got you right in the action online or offline. There are 15 different fighters to choose from in the light weight division. Champion Conner McGregor is one of the fighters you can choose. UFC 3 also brought back the Ultimate team mode. It made the beta more replayable, as you unlocked different move cards, contract cards etc, to upgrade your fighters. For newbies to the franchise or veterans fine tuning their skills, there is practice mode. Checkout some gameplay samples below.   [embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeRZpfTfwys[/embedyt]     The new stand up definitely takes some getting use too. The ground and clinch game mechanics are the same as UFC 2. With some added animations and smoother transitions. Submission mechanics are the same as well. But the stand up I found had a much bigger learning curve to it.  I was having a hard time with forward strikes, stepping strikes, countering and swaying and connecting combos. Jabs felt inaccurate. Leg kicks are way overpowered. You could end a fight in the first or second round by landing leg kicks.  The animations when a player gets stunned or staggered is hilarious to watch. Limbs will rag doll, fold, and bend as if the A.I is really hurt or knocked out, then will snap back when the recover. They remapped the stand-up controls from UFC 2 to UFC 3. It takes a lot of time to get use too. Strikes and combos feel delayed from the button inputs. A few bugs here and there but its only a beta. So it’s still early. The other graphics of the game looked great. The textures of the fighters look good. Each fighter was scanned in and all have their entrances and in ring traditions and poses as their names are announced.  These new graphics are thanks to EA sports bringing a “revolutionary new game play animation technology” called Real Player Motion (RPM). This tech is to deliver the most fluid and responsive motion ever in sports gaming. In my opinion, this tech is going to hinder UFC 3 success. Looking at intros/entrances and fighter textures look amazing. But watching fights play out looked like organized chaos. The new animation tech is as EA sports says… New! Which means lots of bugs and fixes to do. We will have to wait and see when UFC 3 comes out for PS4 and Xbox one on Feb 2, 2018
