While it may not be a well known fighting game compared to others, Samurai Shodown, is a storied fighting game with its own style. The 2019 release brings a nice change to the fighting game genre by having simple moves that deal huge damage. Samurai Shodown takes you back to the basics, meaning it’s not about combos, being aggressive, or super defensive. With specific moves you can deal more damage, or place a well placed block which opens up a chance to deal huge damage to your opponent. Samurai Shodown is a great balance between a game for beginners and for advanced players. Special and heavy attacks can be learned through . Blocking is difficult at times, as is dodging an attack, using your super is a hit or miss since you can only use one per fight, and if they block it, it all went to waste.Once you trigger a rage explosion you lose your rage gauge for the remainder of the match, which puts it in a good spot as a big risk vs reward trump card. With a nice choice of characters, who all have their own perks for weapon, and super attacks, it’s nice that you can find the character that best fits you, and play with them the way that you need to. With a nice uplift in graphics, it’s a nice visual on the eyes, the sound track is quiet so that you can focus on the match at hand.
