Kart racing games were dominated by Mario Kart mainly. But in 1999, Naughty Dog the makers of Crash Bandicoot released a kart racer of their own called CTR ( Crash Bandicoot Racing). The 4th Crash game to hit the Playstation. It had everything you would expect from a Kart racing game. A few single player modes, a few couch coop multiplayer modes where you can play with or against friends, and for the time it was a popular game since Playstation didn’t have its own exclusive kart racer. It even had a sequel come out in 2003 Crash Nitro Kart that released on all platforms at the time (Game boy Advance, GameCube, PS2, and Xbox). Now as of June 21, 2019 Developer Beenox and Publisher Activision have taken the reigns and remade this treasure into Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled. Bringing back the same racing feeling as you had as a kid, this game will bring back a rush of memories. In Full HD 4k support on your Pro’s and X’s this game looks and sounds better than ever. Probably the best looking kart racer on the market. Including  all 31 tracks from Crash Team Racing and Crash Nitro Kart. As well as unlockable characters and karts that are customizable this time around. You start with the 8 base players from CTR , but the whole roster totals to 26 racers. This includes old bosses, side kicks and even Spyro the dragon is a playable character. That’s a whole lot a content and we’ve barely scratched the surface. [embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8mjWXv3hMw[/embedyt] The single player Adventure mode has added a whole new way to play. There is the Classic mode which is the way CTR was played in its original form. One character from beginning to end, and just your basic kart.  No customizations, and you only race against the original cast from CTR and no difficulty option. 11 different power ups, turbo boosts, and power slides are all there and you can still unlock rewards and earn Wumpa Coins to spend in the Pit Stop. I recommend this mode for people new to the series. Then there is the Nitro Fueled Adventure mode. Switch between characters and karts whenever you want. There are so much more items you can unlock to customize you racer and your kart along the way like Skins, decals, wheels, stickers, paint jobs and new racers. Your opponents will also change their look from time to time. Select from 3 difficulty levels and even change your HUD. Race across 5 hub worlds as you try to prevent the character Nitrous Oxide from turning the world into a giant parking lot. Win trophies in each world to unlock the next track, also earn relics and gems for completing different challenges and at the end, A final race with Oxide to see if you can stop him or else he takes over the world. On July 3rd,  Nitro Tour Grand Prix launches with free downloadable seasonal content. This includes seasonal tracks, characters and kart customizations. Climb up to the golden tier to maximize those rewards. The Nitro tour only runs until July 28 so be sure to get in as much races in as you can. Next season is the Back n Time Grand Prix followed by a Spyro Grand Prix. No release date yet but each season is FREE. Be sure to keep an eye out for that.     CTR:NF plays just like Old CTR but so much better. Controls are quick and responsive just like a kart racer should be. You can use the D-pad or thumb-stick to control your kart.  Turbo boost off the line just as GO! appears, With good timing you can turbo after doing tricks off jumps, power slide into a boost. Turbo is key for finishing in first place. On most tracks, when your good enough, you can turbo boost around the entire track. Pro gamer style. Be sure to collect fruit along the track. They are not just collectible filler. The Wumpa fruit actually boosts your speed and power of your power ups. Once you collect 10 Wumpa fruit, you become “Juiced up”. 9 different power ups for races. some offence, and some defence. Some way overpowered than other but makes for intense competition. Battle mode Has 2 extra power ups for a total of 11 powers ups. And with different techniques and good power up management, you can actually block incoming attacks which as an attacker can be frustrating when fighting for 1st, but so satisfying when you have 1st and block an incoming attack to clutch the win. The only problem I have with this game is why didn’t we get this years ago? The kids who play Fortnite see this game and say WTF is that and will pass over this without a 2nd look. Me being in my 30’s saw this game and was like “oh ya cool I remember this game!”. played it with friends couch coop when we were 14-15 years old! The nostalgia is there of course. But I enjoyed this as a kid and I don’t see a game like this should be targeted for an audience in there 30’s. But it is on all consoles so at least it has potential but don’t expect Esports to start competitions in CTR. Starting at $49.99, I can see this being a free game in 4-5 month with a subscription. The money put in is basically the free season content which is a limited time only feature so Die hard fans, BUY this game! Kart Racer fans, Buy this game!!! As for a casual gamer just wait for a sale or try a friends copy before you buy.
