Season Passes can be a Cash Grab

Season Passes can be a Cash Grab

Over the past couple of years, a majority of video games have been introduced to season passes, giving you exclusive rewards that not everyone will have and giving you a lot of perks such as XP boosts.
Concurrently, most seasons last about 90 days and do a complete reset where they make major changes to the game and give you the option to purchase the new season pass and get even more unlockables.

The one burning question that a lot of people ask “is the season pass worth it?” Depending on how much you play the game will determine if the season pass is worth the buy. There are people out there who play certain games like it’s a religion, and max out the achievements in no time. Other players play when they can and may only advance a few achievements or aim for a specific item that they want from the pass.

Games that are good with a season pass

I’ve played a wide variety of games that offer season passes and in most cases I have purchased them. Some I find fun and interesting but others just seem repetitive and not worth it.
Destiny 2 is a great game and extremely easy to level up when you can grab the XP boosts, and while playing alongside friends. Once you hit about level 50 it is extremely repetitive, especially the prizes. It gets boring to collect the same pieces of armour, just at a higher light level, and continuing to get game perks. It brings down the drive of wanting to hit level 100.

Fortnite is another game that is fun throughout the game, especially by unlocking new characters (and normally one skin to go along with it) and the weapons to match the character. Unlocking the final level gives you something that normally refers to the first character that you unlocked. It does make it worth trying to reach the final level, but let’s be honest, playing the same kind of routine game over and over does make it hard to play for hours on end.

The one season pass that I find absolutely worth paying for is Dead by Daylight, giving you so many skins for characters. I know that this may not seem as fun, but there’s one main reason why I’m pointing this out. It’s the skins that make the characters in that game. Putting ornaments on killer hooks, along with the skins of the murderers makes it harder to tell who is hunting you and making the game more engaging.

Worth the Grind?

With the amount of time one person would have to put into a game, it may make sense to get the season pass and play the game as much as you can/want. You still level up and get some free items without having the pass, but if you make it far enough that you think the perks are good, then purchase it, load up your inventory and experience the game in a more fun way, and new weapons, armour and skins.

Lots of games feature a season pass as I mentioned before, so find the game that you have the most fun with, level up a few times or even just play the game for a few months and buy it before the 90 days are up and the season resets.

Let me know if you think season passes are worth it.
I find that some games just aren’t worth the money but I still enjoy playing them a lot, but you might just find that some games are worth it.

Keep gaming everyone
