Remade doesn’t mean Better

Remade doesn’t mean Better

With everyone hiding in self-isolation most of them are turning to video games to fill in the time gaps. Having fun forgetting that there’s a pandemic going on and just focusing on what is in front of them. With a whole line up of games that were to come out, it seems that only the “remake” versions are the ones being put out. Physical copies and digital. With the let down of FF7 Remake being only a portion of the game it truly is, and Resident Evil 3 coming out in the past few weeks we are left with nothing but disappointment. It should be left the way it was, for everyone to play and collect the items throughout the game. Remakes take up so much room on your hard drive and let us be honest, it is going to be deleted after about a month to free up some room due to the fact that there’s nothing else to do in it. Let me give you an example of my point of view on this before you get mad. Movies have remakes all the time and sometimes on the rare occasion they succeed, such as “Jumanji“. I love the original and like the modern one with everything updated. Then you have cases such as “Charlies Angles” or “Ghostbusters“. The original movies are modern classics and enjoyed by millions than the remake versions do nothing but get dragged through the mud and earning a horrible review on Rotten Tomatoes. Now that we are kind of on the same page, let’s look into some of the remakes that seem to be better quality yet seem to lose the storyline that we liked in the original. Games like Spyro the Dragon, and Crash Bandicoot are what a “remake” should be. The same game that came out years ago, but fully upgraded graphics and sounds. Going through the levels and finding the secrets that you knew were there and getting to that 100% goal while unlocking achievements and trophies along the way. Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Resident Evil 3, are my two perfect examples about how the storyline is changed and completely changes it from their predecessors which makes the replay value go way down. There are many games still that people want to be remade and I fully agree but I want the graphics and sounds, that’s about it. Do not change the storyline because it was great and made me want to come back to play it more. Some examples are Dino Crisis, Tenchu, or even the Metal Gear Solids from the past. So back to my original opinion about the games. I feel that they have lost their gaming methods because the build-up had so much hype that it made people want them so bad. When the release date finally happened they played the game they had been wanting. Hit with certain expectations and getting something totally different. Now please don’t get me wrong, there are going to be lots of people who love the remakes and are still playing it over and over, but I see a lot of people playing through once and letting it sit on their console for months before they realize that there are so many other games they could play and POOF, the game will get deleted until further notice. So what I’m going to do is leave it up to everyone, I’m not meaning to sound negative, and glad that these games are given a chance, but I find that there are so many changes that it just takes away from the original game that was a classic and had a lot of gamers talking about it for years. Let me know what you think!!   Keep gaming everyone!
