Can Outriders Join the Likes of Destiny and Borderlands?

Looter shooters have been basically dominated by the likes of the Borderlands franchise, Destiny, and The division over the years. It’s nice to see a new player enter the arena, FINALLY. Personally, I feel like there is room for a few more high-end looter shooters, so when the guys over at People Can Fly announced they would be releasing Outriders, It piqued my interest right off the jump. Looking like a mix between Gears of War, Destiny, and The Division. I can’t wait to get my hands on this.

What do we know so far? It’s a 3rd person looter shooter (which I’m a huge fan of). It will have 4 classes shown so far including Technomancer, Pyromancer, Trickster, Devastator. Expect similar weapon classes that you are already familiar with in other games as well as weapon rarities.

Graphically, from what has been shown, Outriders is looking pretty polished and immersive as far as the environments, player models, enemies go. I wouldn’t expect any less considering it’s a project with People Can Fly and Square Enix!

Judging from the videos that have been released so far, the gameplay looks fun, immersive, and well, intricate at times. Considering the amount of time potentially being spent on build creation and modding of gear. The skill tree for each character class is a nice addition as well as rewarding players for being aggressive during gameplay. Crafting, Modding, Upgrading weapons is a core feature like most looter shooters and no different in outriders but they take it to the next level of customization being able to adjust how your weapons handle as well as some other cool features. Want to freeze enemies and strike them down with lightning…. there’s a mod for that! Ever run into an issue where your early-game weapons aren’t viable anymore once you get to a high level….no problem, In Outriders, you can improve the rarity of your gear to take along with you as you level if you choose.

Specifically what stood out was the focus on end game content. Far too many games suffer from a lack of end game content and you find yourself repeating a lot of missions and spending most of your time grinding for rare items and builds while waiting for promised new DLC and content add-ons. Enter Expeditions, once the game is complete you will find a completely new storyline to complete without any recycled material from the main campaign of the game! 13 Expeditions will be available with varying difficulties, once complete this will unlock the final expedition “Eye of the Strom”.

April 1st, 2021 is the slated release date for Outriders, hopefully, it pans out to be a contender in the space and not an April fool’s joke!

what are you most looking forward to in Outriders?
