Changing Release Dates can Hurt

With everything that is happening with games and systems coming out it really makes you think about what is actually happening behind the scenes. Games are getting pushed back months and some aren’t even given a new release date. With Square Enix holding back on the much anticipated Avengers game, and Final Fantasy 7 remake, they really seem to have bit off more than they can chew. We were told about these games so long ago, and some lucky players have even gotten a chance to try out some game play, but why do they keep pushing back games that have been in development for years! It’s the whole situation with Kingdom Hearts 3 all over again. Telling everyone about it way too far in advance, saying that it will be out by a specific date and all it does is get pushed back more and more. I know that there are lots of things going on behind the scenes that I wouldn’t understand, and the companies may have good reason for holding back. No one wants to play a broken game. You get nothing but disappointment, like when they released WWE 2K20 and you were glitching out and missing your face. They claim that they want to “polish” the details for the best gaming experience. Yoshinori Kitase who is the main producer of Final Fantasy 7 remake mentioned the following about pushing back the release dates: “We are making this tough decision in order to give ourselves a few extra weeks to apply final polish to the game and to deliver you the best possible experience. I, on behalf of the whole team, want to apologize to everyone, as I know this means waiting for the game just a little bit longer. Thank you for your patience and continued support.” Shaun Escayg who is the director on the Avengers game gave a message along the same lines: “We will spend this additional development time focusing on fine tuning and polishing the game to the high standards our fans expect and deserve.” You can say you can polish a game all you want, but it doesn’t mean much. The games are basically laid out and ready to go. I know Square Enix produces amazing games with controls, music, and graphics. But pushing back games like this could really hurt them. It’s a smart move releasing it to just PS4 exclusively for a year and then releasing it to other systems. There are always positives and negatives but when everyone hears about a release date of a game and try to plan when they can play. The longer I have to wait the more it makes me have less interest in it and not really want to play it as much as I wanted to when I first heard about it, I’m sure that there are a lot of people out there who will agree with me on that. Even the pre-order items you get aren’t worth it. Nothing to brag about since they have had lots of Final Fantasy 7 toys and collectibles out there for years, along with Avenger stuff since the movies have been around for years. I want to know what you think, is pushing back the release date of a game worth it? The companies can say they want to “polish” the game more but I find it as a filler so that people don’t ask too many questions and they may have missed something massive in the game that should of been caught a long time ago. For once I want to hear a real reason as to why it’s pushed back. What do you think?   Keep gaming everyone!
