Detroit: Become Human Review

Detroit is set in the year 2038, in a time where AI is integrated into every part of humanity. Playing this one can only imagine if it will be a reality once we get there, and to be honest with all the technological advances today I don’t see why not. Which will beg the question, are they just AI…..or something more. Detroit: Become Human explores this across its 3 protagonists; Kara – the housekeeper who cares for a little girl named Alice. Connor – a prototype AI detective assigned to help police deal with deviants. Markus – a caregiver AI with aspirations beyond his current role. All three present their own challenges and can have a completely different feel depending on choices made. The characters are relatable and you feel connected to them throughout the entire game. Playing against my moral compass was difficult at times, but trying to make those hard choices in order to progress the story and open up new trees to explore was fun. Sometimes not panning out the way I had hoped, just added to the entire game. The game mechanics, the variety of story trees you can take, the graphics, acting, basically everything is on point! That being said the replay value is definitely there. Choosing to be passive, aggressive, or indifferent. I’ve done 2 full play trough’s and can’t wait to get started on the third and fourth. As far as cons go there weren’t many things to complain about as far as Detroit goes, however, no game is perfect. For me sometimes the controls and character movement felt a bit clunky. To go with that I did wish there was an option to skip cutscenes that have been played on previous play trough’s. But overlooking that I was sold from start to finish. I was impressed with this game and expected nothing less from Quantic Dreams.
