Feel True Power- Xbox One X Review

0
We are days away from the release of the most powerful console, the Xbox One X. We have the privilege of bringing you guys an early look inside the Xbox One X and what it has to offer. As you can see, in our unboxing video, is how similar it looks to the Xbox One S. With the weight difference and the slight decrease in size, you have a completely different console. The console is very sleek but does look similar to the Xbox One S. Like a fine car, you really want to see what’s under the hood. That’s where we come in. Piece by piece, we have broken down the key specs in the Xbox One X below. You can check out the unboxing video by following this link: https://www.nextlevelgaming.ca/xbox-one-x-unboxing/
  • CPU: Eight-core 2.3GHz processor- The 8-core Custom AMD CPU is clocked at 2.3GHz to bring enhanced AI, real-world detail, and smoother interactions to your gaming.

  • GPU: 40 compute units at 1172MHz- A 6 Teraflop GPU enables 4K environments and characters to become more realistic than ever, with more detail and smoother animations.

  • RAM: 12GB GDDR5 (shared between system and GPU)- 12GB GDDR5 of graphic memory add speed and power to game performance to enable bigger worlds, further horizons, and quicker load times.

  • Bandwidth: 326GB/s- Game graphics are faster and more detailed with 326 GB/sec memory bandwidth.

  • Disc: UHD Blu-ray player
  • Video: 4K output, HDR 10 support
  • Audio: DTS 5.1, Dolby Digital 5.1 and Atmos, PCM 2.0, 5.1, 7.1
  • Wireless: Bluetooth, dual-band Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, IR blaster
  • Connectors: 2x HDMI (2.0b out, 1.4b in), 3x USB 3.0 ports, IR out, S/PDIF, Ethernet
  • Supersampling- This is where you can make 1080p images look even better. This means you don’t need a 4K to run the system but of course, you should get the full potential of the Xbox One X. What supersampling does is it will scale down any 4K resolution for a 1080p Television. You will see a huge improvement graphically in regards to texture details, frame rates will be faster and overall image quality will all receive a great boost.
  • Storage: 1TB hard disk
These specs are quite impressive for a console, considering the size of the unit, and with all this power under the hood. Some very noticeable specs are the GPU with 40 compute units, which will be running at 1172mhz. With 12GB of GDDR5 memory, this is a healthy duo of more memory and faster memory. Not all 12GB will be directed to the GPU as there will be some allocated to the CPU. Key features like the 4K Ultra HD Blu Ray player are a huge plus considering the main competition for the Xbox One X, with the PS4 not having this ability. Xbox One X games can run in HDR(High Dynamic Range).   Check out the comparison chart below for the Xbox One X vs PS4 Pro: Hands-on Rundown: One of the most notable differences with the Xbox One X over the Xbox One or Xbox One S is how fast the operating system/dashboard runs. This stood out to me the most because, with my Xbox One S, I often felt slow and unresponsive dashboard at times. With the Xbox One X, it is very fast and fluid and I have not had a hiccup yet while navigating through menus, cycling my friend’s list or even switching from in-game to the dashboard. Aside from that, no changes have been made to the dashboard as this is still labelled as an Xbox One console. If you are running your Xbox One X on a 4K, please make sure to check all settings and calibrate your TV properly to get the full effect of 4K content. Even if you don’t have a 4K TV, supersampling will help out big time. Remember, this console is not strictly for people who own 4K as you will notice improvements from 1080p. Design: The design of the Xbox One X is great but not mind-blowing. I know this is still a part of the Xbox One family but to me, it still looks like the Xbox One S which is a great looking console so don’t get me wrong there. I would have liked to have seen a little bit more from The Xbox One X. It is a sleek-looking console but it’s just missing a little something in my opinion. Gameplay: The first game I am going to test out is Gears of War 4, which is one of my favourite franchises of all time! Gears looks absolutely gorgeous on the Xbox One X, with true 4K visuals(3840×2160). With the Visuals Rendering Mode, you can check the settings in Gears to toggle between performance mode and visuals mode. Gears support HDR, which will increase the contrast from light to dark. Gears of War 4 also supports a crazy amount of wide colour gamut, which is now at a 4k Resolution. From the moment you rev your chainsaw, the game looks awesome and you will notice the difference right away. Gears is hitting 1080p and up to 60fps campaign. This also occurs in horde mode, which includes great resolution textures and enhanced graphics features when you toggle on visuals mode. Gears of War 4 multi-player is clocking in at 4K 60fps, which is damn beautiful! This is with adaptive resolution scaling. This will stay locked in for both performance and visuals mode.   [embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEFee85Cbkg[/embedyt]   I played through a lot of games that are equipped with active X Box One X enhancements, like Gears of War 4 and Fifa 18. For the first sports game, it looked amazing! Older titles like Halo 3, looked and felt better with the Xbox One X. Although there is a growing list of games getting enhancements, not all of them are currently available. I have set up a link that will direct you to Microsoft’s list of Enhanced, where they break down the games and what format they will be in once they are available. Check it out: https://www.xbox.com/en-CA/games/xbox-one/xbox-one-x-enhanced-list       Although the Xbox One X is still a part of the Xbox One family there are some definite reasons why you should purchase this console over the Xbox One S and Xbox One. For a console, it packs some firepower under the hood to rival it’s competitors and for the hardcore gamer, this console is a must add to the collection.  With 4K gaming, the future of the industry the Xbox One X is a step in the right direction.   Cheers Folks!
