Fortnite is Failing

Fortnite is Failing

For the past two years, all I can see if people dancing like the characters in Fortnite. When you ask anyone that’s the reference they give you. But when you ask where the game got the dance I always get the same blank expression and I laugh because all they know is Fortnite. With the “Black hole” event that happened over the weekend I sat there with my fingers crossed hoping that Fortnite was shutting down. From all the rumours such as companies buying the game so that kids would actually go outside and play, to they just can’t afford the servers anymore (that one I knew was a lie), but I was hopeful. But I was only brought with disappointment. When I saw “Chapter 2”. Now here’s where my opinion comes in. I played the game for a short bit and after about 3 matches I knew it wasn’t the game for me. Building ramps or small bases that get destroyed in a matter of seconds, trying to be the last team or survivor. I can’t stand this game, and where does “chapter 2” come from!? Oh wait, basically everything else! I think that the only original thing in Fortnite is the character design. Every person who plays this game gets so heavily sweaty. With random messages from people saying I suck or people asking me to delete the game. I really didn’t think that the game would be like that. Everyone is entitles to their opinion and you should just keep it to yourself with games like these. Or get off the system and go outside because you achieve more by getting fresh air and moving around, rather than breathing in the day old Doritos dust from the bag you accidentally sat on, or the stale sandwich that your Mommy made you for lunch that you left on the table. With the black hole event I found it sad that it drew more attention to the game in recent days, due to the fact that the stats were dropping because how long can you keep a game going? Coverage by the game was covered in articles on CNN business, The Washington Post, The New York Times, and for some reason ESPN. They had 6 Million people watch the game-ending event that happened on the weekend and turn into a spinning circle on a black background, while hundreds of thousands of people stayed on the Twitch channel to watch the damn thing! It wasn’t the first battle royale game, but they seem to be taking aspects from other games which came out after it’s release. Respawn and ping system was taken right from Apex Legends, so why don’t they just focus on their game instead of stealing ideas from other games?! For the past few months if you look at the Twitch standings they have slowly been declining. Which is most likely why they decided to pull the event on a weekend during the day. It was a risky move but still seems to have paid off. They are still dropping but did have a pick up from the launch of Chapter 2. Will this reboot is it possible that they can really pick up the slack? In my honest opinion they can’t. It’s a game that is a time filler. Just this morning on Twitch they were at 342K views, and now they are down to 123K. It’s still placing second for the most watched game but I’m sure once people check out the new features and the loss of ones from the past it will slowly continue to drop. So with that I think that they should focus on something else rather then rebooting just so that people can complain about how they don’t like the new features and want the old ones back.   I wish everything stayed in the black hole! Cheers everyone!
