Friday The 13th: The Game Review

0
When this game was first announced it brought back childhood memories of my brother, sister and I sitting in my parents dark and gloomy basement marathon watching all the movies that were already out. I would like to thank Blockbuster video for allowing us to rent all these movies despite being extremely under age. If only you were there to explain to our parents why we couldn’t sleep for days. I have been playing Friday the 13th since release date but have waited to do a review on this game since we ran into servers issues from day one and a lot of bugs in the game which had the game nearly impossible to load up unless you were looking for group via Xbox One. We have seen a few patches/updates and the game is running pretty smoothly with the occasional bug out while in-game. Gun Media/Illfonic are actually dishing out some free content for people who have the game as a thank for you being patient after all the bugs and servers issues from day one. Not bad in my eyes and at least they have acknowledged that they messed up big time.   [embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYZdSndmNwg[/embedyt]   Friday The 13th is of course a survival horror game where it is 7v1. Jason versus the teenage counselors who are trying to escape after they are all sitting by the campfire when one of their friends gets murdered by Jason. As a counselor your main goal is to escape by any means necessary. You have several options when you are trying to escape. You can escape by car, boat, or calling the cops. As an added bonus to help you escape as well you can call in Tommy Jarvis to help you out. Now Tommy can be called in but will only come back as a player who has been killed already.  Escaping by car or boat requires you to find keys, gas and battery and if you are going by boat you need the propeller. As a counselor you spend most of your time looking for items in drawers that can help you and your friends out to try to escape. Make sure you check every location possible as you never know where the keys or battery can be as this is all random. One of the things a love most about this game is how everyone uses game chat and is always communicating which makes this game so much more fun, but don’t be too loud because Jason could be lurking close by! Starting off the match if you don’t have the perk you are left without a walkie-talkie so you will have no way of chatting with your friends unless they are in close proximity this really freaks you out when you’re wearing your Turtle Beach Headset and all you can hear is crackling leaves or animals making noises. Your head is always on a swivel in this game and once you are able to chat with friends it kind of slows down your heart rate a little knowing someone can actually hear you. Kudos to the development team on that. Small things like that make this game a lot of fun especially when in a lobby with a few friends and a good group help this game excel.   Playing as Jason is like having the power of god! You are no match for those counselors as you are so overpowered it’s so awesome! The most satisfying part of this game is of course being Jason. Now with 8 players in the lobby Jason is selected at random or if in a private match with friends you can select who you want to be Jason. So basically you have about a 12.5% chance of being Jason. Playing as Jason is extremely fun considering the amazing powers you obtain as the match goes on. Morph/teleport can have you pop up right in front of some counselors when they least except it and Sense is where you are able to hear/see anyone making shit loads of noise around the map. Now there are several Jason variations you can play as you unlock them as you level up. Let me tell you know what Jason you choose stalking your victims in this game is so much fun considering all the amazing gruesome kills that are available for you to unlock. Sometimes I would just let Jason catch me and see which way I would die next.   [embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dw5g5NPGuNw[/embedyt]       The game takes place over 3 maps settings which really span from movies 2 and 3 and for long time fans you will also remember the shrine of Jason’s mothers decomposed head from Part 3. As I mentioned before Tommy Jarvis is playable in this game and with that being said you are able to kill Jason with a series of events that need to happen and you will need Tommy Jarvis to do so. I won’t spoil the fun on that but good luck out their!   [embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePl9vqgNyHQ[/embedyt]   Although Friday The 13th has its issues and bugs the game is still a lot of fun and will have you coming back to play over and over especially long time fans of the Movies. This game brings back game chat and communication in-game lobby settings and is a fantastic game to play with friends. Jason is amazing to play as and will have you crossing your fingers every time you play hoping that you are Jason. Enjoy this game and as updates and patches have been released the game is becoming smoother and more playable from launch date. The game is great but still has a lot of room to improve.   Cheers Folks!
