Guns, Gore & Cannoli 2 PC Review

When it comes to World War II and zombies, many of us think Call of Duty until Crazy Monkey Studios came out with Guns, Gore and Cannoli which is  a 2D platformer with a little bullet hell. Fast forward and we now have the second installment Guns, Gore & Cannoli 2. This game is set 15 years later after the first game in 1944. WWII has already started and Vinnie Cannoli is back to take out anyone in his way. The story starts with you captured by the mob looking to get some revenge, but you escape and start your rampage. 13 weapons in your load out featuring the all new weapon wheel for quick selection on the fly. 2 melee weapons a baseball bat and a chainsaw for close encounters. A couple of pistol options, smgs, shotguns, flamethrowers, grenade launchers, rocket launchers and of course the classic Tommy Gun just to name a few. There is also a few stationary guns like the MGS and artillery turrets to take out waves or bigger enemies as they try to take you out.

Guns, Gore & Cannoli 2 is a blast to play and is not overly difficult but you can set the difficulty to impossible if you want to rage. The shooting and platforming blend well while the puzzles you do encounter are straight forward. The controls are easy to get use too. Double jumping, kicking, jump kicks, action rolling and 360 aiming.  Some clever moments in level design with the lighting effects trick the user causing misdirection at moments but is actually entertaining. One level had me fall in a sewer where I died beside a paper boat and red balloon (IT reference). A few movie references have been thrown in as you play throughout the story. There are 17 levels to complete with tons of enemies. Nazi’s, Zombies, Nazi Zombies, soldiers, the mob, Police and other monsters.  The boss fights are challenging enough to get you killed a few times but you wont be playing for hours trying to figure them out.

The art in Guns, Gore, & Cannoli is hand drawn 2D graphics and animation. The levels take you into the city of Thugtown, a forest in Europe, underground bunkers, warehouses, and to the front lines in WWII. You’ll be crawling through tunnels, jumping over barbed wire under mg fire. Mortars, rockets, grenades, and land mines are constant obstacles. The game runs great even on multiplayer online or local. The frame rate rarely slows down even when the actions is too much to keep track. Guns, Gore & Cannoli 2 has Online 4 player coop support, something that was requested ever since the first game. Wise guys will be able to get Guns, Gore and Cannoli 2 today and is available on steam for $9.99. Later to be released on PS4 and Xbox One Guns, Gore & Cannoli is a great sequel for fans of the first installment. Vinnie is back and bigger than ever. The graphics and game play shine and with added movie Easter eggs to laugh at this game is a must have for new and old players to the series. Enjoy!
