Is Ark Dying?

0
Ark is one of my go to games to play. Gathering materials, building shelter and weapons along side of taming dinosaurs/ animals. I was pumped when I saw a countdown on Wildcards website. Counting down the days and hours until I could see what was going to happen. Finally, the count down hits zero. I jump on the website and what do I see…. A special event for a month… at this point I was screaming in my head. I don’t want a special event! I want the new DLC!!! Well after reading many negative reviews about how the countdown was a waste of time, another timer starts! I think to myself that this is Wildcard reacting to all the negative feedback about the event. They scrambled realizing that they may have done it wrong. When it comes to special events don’t do a stupid countdown! Post a picture so that people know what is coming and they can get things on the go to prep for it. I mean the Tek Rex’s are a cool idea, boosting them over level 150 so that you can get the highest level and mate them. After catching some Tek Rex’s and collecting a crap load of bones, I went back to the website… and what do I see but ANOTHER countdown. I start cursing in my head again and realize that this MUST be a trailer for the new DLC. Well once again I was counting the days and hours out and finally the trailer happens! We all get a small taste of the Extinction DLC that comes out Nov 6.   Some classic dino’s and some little metal lizard that can teleport thinking that it can take on a Giga. A giant Titan that seems to wanna eat you and your Rex whole. But what else was there in the trailer? Some new tek that you probably won’t be able to unlock until you beat the boss on the alpha setting because that’s how Wildcard rolls. Honestly, what can be done after this? I mean it took them years to release a full game version after it being in a beta state, and even releasing the center map and scorched earth. They can release all the special events that they want but it is going to be harder to pull people into the game once it’s all done. Each map has its challenges and environments. Knowing that you have to work towards getting that gear to prep yourself to go on the adventure that you most likely can’t do solo (unless you use admin commands). The game will slowly die down and it will be harder to play with your friends as it takes hours, even days to prep for attacking a boss that you may not even survive. Most people build and tame, but other then that who really goes into caves and attempts the bosses? Other games like Ark will come out (Conan) and people will play them for a different aspect and maybe even enjoy it. Who knows how this DLC will hold up but, we will have to see if Ark’s Extinction DLC will truly be the end of the game, it if it will spark a little life back into it.
