Mafia III Review-Bayou Blues

One of my most anticipated games of 2016 has arrived and I must say that I am slightly disappointed in the way this game has played out so far. Don’t get me wrong this is still a fantastic game in my eyes but has a lot of work that needs to done to make this great! Maybe I shouldn’t have hyped this game up too my much in my own head so the let down would have been less but I am a gamer that is what we do! [embedyt] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNiHOpHbCzM[/embedyt] I have been playing through on Xbox One but to me it seems more like Xbox 360. The graphics need a little work that’s for sure. The textures seem extremely blurry and what they did with the lighting seems a little off to me as well. Technical issues plague this game but I have managed to over see them because of how well written this game is. Gameplay is ok but still feels a little clunky to me and the A.I in this game is horrible! Apparently you can be seen through walls now when you are hiding. Must be fighting against a few mutants who can see through everything. Story missions are very repetitive and lack a little flair in my eyes but none the less still a decent experience when playing through Mafia 3’s story. The one bright spot is the voice actors and story telling which is amazing and thanks to that this is what saves this game. I love how they flip-flop from 1968 to the future and it has that documentary feel to it which I think is fantastic. This really brings the game to life and the adaptation of New Orleans is great with it being called New Bordeaux. The game really makes you feel like you are in that time setting, especially with the most amazing soundtrack ive heard in a video game to date( I am an oldies fan of course). How can you not get excited when you are cruising listening to a little James Brown or better yet some good Ole CCR!! Id say half the time of me playing this game was driving around flipping through music stations and enjoying the tunes and scenery.  Another added bonus is being able to toss dead bodies into the water and watch them get mauled by an alligator.   Here is a quick little back story on our main character and how what happened to make him so vengeful!  Lincoln Clay grew up in Saint Michelle’s orphanage in Delray Hollow. When the orphanage closed down, he was taken in by Sammy Robinson and his wife Perla along with their son Ellis, who became like family to him. Still searching for an identity, he joined the U.S Army to fight in the Vietnam War, where he watched many of his brothers in arms die in combat. Upon being discharged from the Army, he returns to New Bordeaux where he reunites with the Robinson’s, who also run the Black Mob in New Bordeaux. When Sal Marcano, leader of the Marcano crime family, has them killed and leaves Lincoln for dead, he sets out not only to kill Sal Marcano but to systematically dismantle his operations and take them over himself, all the while building a new family of his own. Technical issues plagued the game and maybe pushing this game back till early 2017 could have helped make this game great! For any fan of the Mafia games this is a must own so that you can play this wonderful story but I am warning you now it isn’t quite the masterpiece we all that it would be. Cheers Folks!
