Minecraft Dungeons Review

Minecraft has evolved into an action-packed, world searching treasure looting game and they need your help to free the world while finding amazing weapons, armour, and artifacts. Mojang has launched the game across every platform so that no matter what platform you play on, you are able to enjoy the world of Minecraft in a whole new perspective. With a more family-friendly take on the classic Diablo, Minecraft Dungeons brings everyone together to play through certain maps, and get the specific loot on the maps and finding all the treasures, killing all the mobs, and making sure that you get the best gear so that you can level your armour level up along with leveling up your character.

Gameplay

Minecraft Dungeons strips away its two most focused features (mining and crafting) and replaces them with a light, charming experience. An evil is invading the realm and it is up to you to take him down. Using various weapons and armours all with different perks attached to them you go through specific areas to explore and battle hundreds of mobs. You choose dungeons from a map menu, for instance, instead of exploring a large world where it’s easy to get lost. Similarly, the gear system is very easy to grasp. I received plenty of good weapons and armor regularly, and for everything I didn’t need, I could easily dispose of it in exchange for cash. Besides different weapons and armour you also have a special ability slot, called an enchantment, which you can level up a few times as you gain experience. If you decide to move on to a new weapon, you can get all of those enchantments back to reinvest in something else.
Looting Chests

Find chests to loot

Minecraft Dungeons is very much a hack and slash game you’ll spend lots of time smacking around zombies with your sword and clearing away skeletons with arrows that basically have auto-lock on. But it is still interesting to battle through the maps, like special abilities that let you do things like sprint and leave a trail of fire in your wake or use an explosive firework in place of an arrow. You can only have a few of these at a time, so it’s never really overwhelming, but they add enough features to attack strategically.

Lots of mobs to battle

Sound and Graphics

Just like when you play regular Minecraft the music is easy on the ears and gives off a kind of calming feeling, and picks up when you get into a battle with a boss creature such as a red stone golem or Enderman. Hearing the mobs as well gives you a nice notification that something is near you, helping you to try and kill all the mobs that are in the level (the game shows you the stats at the end of the level). The graphics come with a typical Minecraft style. Lots and lots of blocks. You find everything in the game all over the worlds and it’s fun to find them while exploring. Making the game it’s own style yet keeps the same classic feel.

Final Verdict

The best way to describe Minecraft Dungeons is all-around fun for all ages, almost anyone can pick it up and have some fun. It’s not especially deep or innovative. For the most part, it doesn’t do things that haven’t been seen before but in the case of Minecraft Dungeons, that’s its biggest strength. Playing all on one screen together, or play online with your friends, and get as much loot and money as you can. The game has a great fun experience for everyone, even if you aren’t into the normal Minecraft, you can have fun with this “Diablo” style game and help save the world.
