Xbox Series S (Left) & Xbox Series X (Right)

The new Xbox Series S (Left) & Xbox Series X (Right)

Xbox Series X – This is Microsoft’s most powerful Xbox ever created and just launched this month. Without getting into the technical side, the Series X has the rawest power out of the new generation of consoles, which allows the console to run games in native 4K and HDR, and ray tracing. With the custom SSD, games load faster than ever, so you’ll spend less time checking your phone and more time in the zone. The SSD also introduces a quick resume, which allows you to jump between games in a flash and is one of the Series X’s best features.  Xbox Series S – The Series S is the perfect console for a casual gamer, a child just getting into gaming, or someone is looking for a secondary console. It can play all the same games as the Series X and boasts the same SSD but in a smaller, cheaper package. The Series S cuts a third off the price, but you do make some concessions such as no disc drive, smaller storage space, and less power. While the Series S doesn’t offer native 4K, it does upscale, so most users may not notice a difference. This all-digital console is perfectly paired with Xbox Game Pass.

Software

New Titles – With the new consoles’ launch, there is a slew of new games to play. Looking to go on a Viking quest across medieval England? Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will keep you busy for many hours! Wonder what it’s like to be a spec ops soldier in the height of the cold war? Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War will help scratch that itch.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate – If you own an Xbox, then Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is a must-have. This service is like Netflix for video games, with over 150+ titles to choose from. With games like Halo: The Master Cheif Collection, Rare Replay, Ori: Will of the Wisps, and more, Game Pass has something for everyone! Every month more games are added to Game Pass, with EA Play being the latest edition, so you have access to EA Classics, including Fifa, Madden, and Star Wars Battlefront. Game Pass Ultimate also gives you access to Game Pass for PC and Project Xcloud, which lets you stream games to your android device. Game Pass enables you to play the games you enjoy the way you want to enjoy them.

Stocking Stuffers

MOGA Mobile Gaming Clip for Xbox Controllers

An android phone playing Sea of Thieves via Xcloud and a MOGA Mobile Gaming Clip

Xcloud Controller Clip – Earlier this year, Microsoft launched Xcloud, a cloud-streaming platform that allows users to play Game Pass games on their android device. It’s quite the experience playing games like Forza Horizon 4 on my Samsung Galaxy S10+ and is even better with a Controller Clip. These devices, like the MOGA Gaming Clip, allow you to clip your android phone to your controller, so it’s all in one place and eases the mobile gaming experience.
Xbox Gear

Xbox Gear – If you’re looking to give some clothing this year, the Xbox Gear Shop has some great items that’ll keep them warm while showing off their love for Xbox. With hats, mugs, hoodies, and more, you’ll find something for the gamer in your house.  For more gift ideas, be sure to check out our Nintendo and PC Gift Guides!
