The Sony PlayStation 5 event titled,
The Future of Gaming, that was originally planned to live-stream on June 4th, has been
rescheduled to
June 11th.
Out of respect to the George Floyd incident and the growing social unrest in the United States, Sony had delayed the event, suggesting that to steal any spotlight from the protests occurring globally would be a disservice to those who fight for social justice.
“While we understand gamers worldwide are excited to see PS5 games, we do not feel that right now is a time for celebration and, for now, we want to stand back and allow more important voices to be heard,” Sony’s
official PlayStation account tweeted.
The event will showcase some of the new tech that we’re expected to see from the upcoming console, by way of certain PlayStation exclusive games. Though many fans were disappointed at the postponement of The Future of Gaming, the feedback has been generally positive, especially now that a new date has been announced.
