Coming as a surprise announcement for fans, Pikmin 3 Deluxe has been confirmed to arrive on Nintendo Switch with new content, more options for co-op play, and a multitude of ways to make it easier for newcomers to jump in. Originally launching on the Nintendo Wii U, Pikmin 3 isn’t your garden-variety adventure as players will take control of Alph, Brittney, and Charlie, who are three Space explorers tasked with a mission to locate seeds on an uncharted planet and bring them back to their home of Koppai.
Along the way, players will team up with adorable pikmin on this quest for survival filled with puzzles to solve and copious critters to battle. Command a crew of loyal pikmin as you explore a variety of lush environments, such as the snow-covered tundra, the Twilight River, and the Garden of Hope.
“Pikmin 3 Deluxe brings this classic franchise to life on Nintendo Switch, introducing new audiences to its beloved characters and gameplay while welcoming back returning players with new challenges,” Nintendo says.
Pikmin 3 Deluxe will deliver a ton of new content for players, as well as enhancements to the original. These include being able to play the whole story mode in co-op, a new side story that can also be played in co-op, and all the mission mode DLC stages from the original’s release. With new difficulty options, lock-on targeting, and optional hits, it’s never been easier to jump into the fun gameplay and gorgeous world of Pikmin.
With a willing army at your disposal, players will have pikmin of a variety of colors that each bring their unique abilities to tackle any obstacle in their way. Blue pikmin can swim underwater to obtain lost treasures while winged pikmin can fly to places others can’t reach to assist in puzzle solving. Strategically selecting the right pikmin for the job will be the key to success for Alph, Brittney, and Charlie.
For Pikmin veterans, there will be side story missions that feature Captain Olimar and Louie as they explore the planet, PNF-404. Pikmin 3 Deluxe will be landing on Nintendo Switch on October 30.
