When it comes to a solid gaming headset you want something that is comfortable, robust and the sound and mic quality needs to be top-shelf. Now with the new Recon Camo Headset from Turtle Beach, you get all that and it won’t break the bank either. The Ear Force Recon Camo headset for this price tag is probably one of the best headsets you can purchase. Its comfortable design had me playing for hours without any discomfort. The design is simple yet looks fantastic and it doesn’t feel like a cheap headset either. The headset comes with a detachable mic which I don’t mind seeing that this is a multi-platform headset it worked well when I was watching a movie and didn’t have this mic boom sitting in front of me. The mic sounds great while in-game chat and had no issues when hearing voice chat and gameplay running at the same time as well.  This headset comes with an easily accessible volume and mic mute buttons. This is located along the cable that plugs into your controller. I would have liked to see the chat volumes and mute located on the headset themselves like the Stealth series but I guess for this entry-level headset we can’t get all the bells and whistles. 50mm speakers help with the sound quality for this headset and compared to the Stealth series or PX24 you don’t notice much difference in sound. Now, mind you those other headsets come with Superhuman hearing and optional sound presets which this headset does not. Also, one downfall to this headset is there is no Mic-Monitoring feature. This feature allows you to hear yourself in the mic while in chat with friends so you are not screaming over the mic all the time. The design and comfort of this headset mimics some of the higher end Turtle Beach headsets packed into this simple but fantastic headset. Sound quality is great and mic chat is clear but with mic-monitoring an absent feature some people may shy away from this headset but don’t let a feature like that turn you away from a headset that looks, feels and performs at top-notch quality.
