ESA is hopeful that by June 15-17, 2021, E3 will return amidst growing concerns of Coronavirus in LA. Entertainment Software Association has told it’s partners ,according to GamesIndustry.biz, that with the return of E3 will come a re-imagined theme and style. Thought no further information on what this change might be, we know that the ESA is “exploring options with our members to coordinate an online experience to showcase industry announcements and news in June 2020.” Already, IGN has announced this past Friday that it will be participating in an online “Summer of Gaming” stream in early July, partnering with developers and publishers such as Square Enix, 2k Games, and Sega. Although this is a far cry from the absurd amount of new information that E3 presents every year, “Summer of Gaming” has the potential to be a new standard in the way us gamers receive such information. IGN went on to say that “the event will include live broadcasts and on-demand programming featuring IGN’s editorial coverage of the work of game developers from around the world.”
