Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity Showcases a New Character

During the Tokyo Game Show or TGS for short, Nintendo showed off a brand-new trailer for their upcoming title, Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity. The trailer named ‘Champions Unite’ sees a proper introduction to the champions and more story details for this prequel to Breath of the Wild. Gameplay footage also revealed that a younger Impa would be a playable character. The Champions Unite trailer gave viewers a good look at just how exactly the champions will play in this new title. Mipha, the champion of the Zora, was up first. Her gameplay showed a mix of slashes with her trident plus the manipulation over water that other Zora, such as Princess Ruto, was known for. Daruk, champion of the Goron, was much more vicious in his fighting style. Making use of powerful punches as well as the rolling ability Goron is known to process. One interesting tidbit is that Daruk seemed capable of performing the time stop ability, Stasis, without the Sheikah slate. Urbosa, champion of the Gerudo, is next, and her abilities pull directly from her divine gift, Urbosa’s Fury. Capable of summoning massive lightning bolts, she mixes this with her sword abilities to significant effect. Last is Ravoli, the champion of the Rito. Shown to be much more hostile to Link then the others, he uses graceful archery techniques with regular and bomb arrows to overwhelm foes. While not in the trailer, Impa was also shown as a playable character. Making use of her ninja-like abilities to summon clones of herself, use magic through paper tags, and even spawn bomb barrels. Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity releases November 20. What are your thoughts on Impa as a playable character? Which champion are you most excited to play?
