A Slightly Refreshed Formula With Some Unfortunate Gambling Tactics

Basketball fans favourite franchise title is back for another season. After an exciting off-season in the NBA, players have been ready to take control of revamped teams, new players and now even the WNBA.     Gameplay & Graphics NBA 2K20 has always aimed to push the envelope in the basketball gaming experience. In 2K20, players closely resemble their real-life counterparts and every game has that court-side atmosphere. This year’s title introduces a new motion engine that puts signature player styles into play. With advanced shooting controls, a new dribble size-up system and more, there’s added realism in the game that enhances the life-like experience.   MyCareer As expected, there is an all-new storyline for the MyCareer mode. 2K spared no expense by enlisting Hollywood stars such as Idris Elba, Rosario Dawson, and Thomas Middleditch. Last season, players took control of A.I, a college player who was never drafted and had to grind his way overseas in China and the G-League to earn his spot back in the NBA. This year you play as ‘Che’ who is a college senior and a guarantee to get drafted. However, Che subjects himself to some university politics where he decides to step up for an injured teammate and then drop out just months before graduating. Che now has to prove himself to earn a spot back in the draft.    [embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaAu_U2lL3I[/embedyt]   New for the MyCareer mode is the Draft Combine. The NBA’s Draft Combine is one of the most exciting pre-season events to watch as a basketball fan, so participating in it adds entertainment value and a new element for players. Once you’re drafted, however, the rest is up to you. The grind of leveling up your player feels a bit easier than previous years, but you’ll have to either put in the time or purchase virtual credits to speed up the process. There are more badges than previous years and you now have more control of your skill outcome in MyPlayer. Unfortunately, 2K did little to improve the Neighbourhood. The setting is almost exactly the same, and though there are some added features, it feels like a copy and paste from last year’s setting.   MyTeam No NBA2K title would be complete without the MyTeam game mode. In MyTeam, players create their team by opening card packs. 2K20 has put a lot of effort into this feature for this year’s installment, but it has a lot of players concerned and rightfully so. In 2K20, there is a new redesign on the prize payouts that includes slot machines, Plinko style boards, and a prize wheel to earn rewards. The whole ambiance feels and acts like a digital casino. The bigger your wallet, the more opportunities you have to build a better team. For a game that is rated E for Everyone, it feels very uncomfortable to have this element in the game. Pay to Win and microtransaction style games always have a negative response in the gaming community, but with the new MyTeam mode, NBA 2K20 doubles-down on last year’s version with this “gambling simulator”.     Final Thoughts NBA 2K20 is still one of the most exciting sports games that gamers can get their hands on, but with only minor improvements over the previous year and a focus on “Pay to Win”, it will leave many gamers disappointed in the future of the franchise.
