New Last of Us Part II Footage Revealed In State of Play

0
PlayStation’s latest State of Play stream focused on new details for The Last of Us Part II. Narrated by Neil Druckmann, the stream went into greater detail on the different kind of locals Ellie will visit on her path to retribution, along with the enemies that are in her way. The Washington Liberation Front is one of the new enemy factions that Ellie will encounter throughout her journey. The WLF is a militia group that occupies most of Seattle and is heavily armed with weapons stolen from the military. Alternatively, the other major faction is the Seraphites, a group of religious zealots that is deeply tribalistic and territorial. They differ from the WLF in that they prefer stealth over brute force, relying more on silent weapons for lethality, and the overgrowth for cover. In addition to the two new factions, the original threat from The Last of Us returns, and is more prevalent than ever. Runners, who are the recently infected, are deadlier than the first game as they are more numerous and aggressive. The Clickers are back and just as horrifying as before, along with the Stalkers, who sneak around and attempt to blindside the player and overwhelm them. The Shambler is a new stage of infected introduced in The Last of US Part II. Shamblers are large, heavily armored enemies that are covered in puss sores, and they charge the player releasing toxic spore clouds that can burn them. There is more infected teased in the stream, however Druckmann notes that they are more terrifying than the others and shall remain a surprise for players. Many features return from the first game, including the crafting system. In The Last of Us Part II, the crafting system has been amplified at workbench stations to provide a more personal overview of how Ellie can tweak her weapons and gear. The stream showcased this by having Ellie attach a long-range scope to her rifle, meticulously lining it up and screwing it into place. Mobility is improved upon from the first game with new traversal abilities for Ellie. When navigating the overgrown environments, Ellie can now climb, jump, and utilize various environmental terrain to her benefit. In combat, Ellie can dodge enemy attacks, enhancing the moment-to-moment gameplay that players will experience. The new traversal abilities will also come in handy during combat as well, as players can take advantage of structural deficiencies to either get the drop on enemies or avoid them entirely. The stream ended with new gameplay footage that has never been released to the public before. The gameplay showcases how different The Last of Us Part II will be from its predecessor, with everything mentioned by Druckmann in the State of Play being on full display. The Last of Us Part II releases on June 19 for the PlayStation 4.

From a young age I've loved video games and the power they possess in bringing different kinds of people together. I have forged many good friendships through this medium that would not exist without it. I love experiencing a new genre for the first time and finding out it resonates with me. Also, Conker's Bad Fur Day is one of the greatest games of all time. Fight me.
