The PlayStation 5 may be revealed sooner than expected if rumors are to be believed. In a recent Bloomberg article, Jason Schreier has reported on the possibility of an event taking place on June 3. The Bloomberg report comes shortly after Sony has updated the PlayStation 5’s official website to include further details on the system’s features and capabilities. It is worth noting, however, that Bloomberg’s sources cautioned how the upcoming conference may be subject to delays due to Covid-19. The report also indicated that Sony won’t be revealing every aspect of the PS5 during it’s first presentation. If the report is true, Sony is continuing its altered approach to revealing the upcoming generation when compared to it’s direct competition, Microsoft’s Xbox Series X. Since The Game Awards in December, Microsoft has shifted its focus to primarily discussing the future of Xbox, whereas Sony is not yet finished with the PS4, remaining firm on marketing The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima. Aside from a presentation on how the PS5 will perform by Mark Cerny, along with the logo and DualSense controller reveal, audiences have been left to speculate what the future holds for the PlayStation brand. Sony’s approach to the upcoming generation is notably different than previous releases, leaving many to question how effective the PlayStation 5 will be in relation to the competition. Regardless of speculation, there is no denying that audiences will finally have the answers they are looking for in the coming weeks, as 2020 is nearing its second half.
