Shown off today in a video trailer, was the announcement of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, a prequel to The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, set 100 years before the events of when the story takes place. The exact specifics of what happened during the war with Calamity Ganon prior to the game’s events were always shrouded in mystery, that is, until now. Players will take control of Link, Zelda, or any of Hyrule’s four champions to battle hordes of Ganon’s underlings as they attempt to stop the end of the world, making use of a wide variety of skills and abilities, both seen and unseen in The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild. Back to development, this next installment in the Hyrule Warriors series is from KOEI Tecmo Games. Producer of the previous Hyrule Warriors titles, Yusuke Hayashi, returns and claims that what inspired this title’s existence was Zelda director, Eiji Aonuma, approaching Hayashi and his team asking “I think it would be interesting to create a Warriors game telling the story of the great calamity. What do you think?”. This naturally led to the conclusion that the large-scale battles between Hyrule and Ganon’s army would be a natural fit for the Warriors style of gameplay, according to Hayashi. Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity will slash its way onto Nintendo Switch November 20. What do you think of Hyrule Warriors? As well as such important events being told in a Warriors title?
