Top 5 Hardest NES Games

With all the new games that come out and able to save mostly anywhere in the game, it makes progression so much easier because if you die, you can just restart at the last save point, or check point. Learning from your mistakes you make it past the point that was holding you back, but back on the old Nintendo Entertainment System, you weren’t able to save on most games. Of course they were much shorter but if you needed to take a break, all you could do was pause it and hope that something didn’t hit the power or reset button. I’ve compiled a list of what I think the top 5 hardest games were for the NES system, due to the fact that you couldn’t save and only had a certain amount of lives. So lets get right into it!   5) Contra Now I know what you’re thinking. You can just use the Konami code and give yourselves 99 lives. Try beating the game with the original 3 lives that you are given! Bad guys everywhere, shooting, and flying ships all over the place. Timing jumps so that you make it to where you need to be without falling off the map. That’s why this game comes in at number 5!   4) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Running around the streets that have huge tanks on them, to jumping into multiple sewers, it’s a game filled with extremely limited health, lots of bad guys, and only 4 lives, and each turtle has a specific range to their weapons! 3) Ninja Gaiden From close combat to throwing ninja stars, it was hard not to get hit by the enemies! Also just to add, when you hung onto the side of a building and getting stuck and not able to jump off!! 2) Festers Quest I thought that Contra was hard with the one hit kills, try running around a whole house with only two hits and then you die! You can make it far enough to get a third health block but even then, you are over tan with bad guys and still die! Also a side note that this game fully reminds me of the Gremlins game when you are Gizmo running around.
  1. BattleToads
From giant body parts kicking ass, to pigs raming you and causing you to fall over, I find this game one of the hardest ever! Riding jet bikes, making perfectly timed jumpes, dodging snowballs, or even throwing them. This game caused me so much anger that I always ended up quitting. I always came back though. I personally have never beaten it but I will always have it on my bucket list!   What’s your top 5? Let me know in the comments.   Keep Gaming everyone!
