Toronto Comicon Convention Report

Last weekend we had the pleasure of checking out Toronto Comicon, formerly Metro Toronto Anime Con, It was quickly become Fan Expos little brother! With attendance increasing year over year as well as a growing dealers room over the last few years. There are a few aspects of cons and expos we love, first being the diverse amount of retailers your can find in one space. With the decrease in the amount of geek culture stores, Comic shops, Ect. It’s nice to be able to shop for everything your nerd heart wants under one roof for an entire weekend. In addition to that, the events push on local artisans via their introduction of an “Artists Alley” a few years back. You can find independent writers, illustrators, and designers as well as people who make arts and crafts and likes. You never know, you might just meet the next big thing in the industry. It’s also important to cultivate new talent and support local artists. It’s not easy out there these days. Obviously one of the most exciting part of going to any con has to be the the people! The attendees cosplaying their favourite characters. Honestly it’s admirable the amount of work and time some of these people put into making the perfect costume to represent their favourite characters! The best part is you can find almost any character you can imagine and some that you had forgotten about. We saw Vaders, X-Men, Watchmen, Street Fighter, and even a Quail Man!  All in all Toronto Comicon has come a long way since its inception and will continue to grow to Fan Expo levels in the coming years! I would highly recommend it for those looking for a convention to go to in the early spring time and get themselves ready for the summer circuit!
