Heroes

When contemplating which heroes to choose, a healthy mix of lane pushers and damage dealers will generally treat you fairly. Think Overthrow, but with more objective-based damage. Heroes like Drow, Prophet, Io, Zeus, Monkey King, Mars, and Kunkka are a few who can completely turn the tide in your favor. Nemestice is a combination of Overthrow, Roshan pit fights, and late-game split pushers all bundled into a specific game mode. Dropping a massive Mk ult, or a Mars “arena” in the middle Meteor is certainly a decisive game-changer and should always be a top priority. Otherwise, choose heroes that have a fair amount of mobility and DPS, for instance, Puck, Anti-Mage, or Storm.

Strategy

At the beginning of the game, determine which lane suits your hero and make absolute sure you arrive in before they do. Placing strategic wards seems to be a rare occurrence, at least in the majority of games I’ve played. However, vision of rotations and potential ganks is arguably more important in Nemestice than an actual ranked match, due to the nature of the game. Secondly, if in either top the top lane or bot lane, be sure to punish your opponent as severally as possible in the first few minutes, so you can easily soak up the Nemesis Embers in the sideline meteorites before they do. This can potentially lead to a quick first blood, and at the very least, an easy lane to dominate. Lastly, split pushing is king in Nemestice. The scoreboard doesn’t matter nearly as much as it would in a ranked game. Sneak in a couple of tower hits here and there, and the game will quickly turn in your favor. Watching a fight occur top and don’t feel the need to TP? Push the tower and force the rotations and watch as the enemy team crumples under your will. As levels are relatively evenly distributed, remember to last hit like a pro. Items are the deciding factor in Nemestice, so think late game, think tower push, and farm like Arteezy.

A Final Warning

If the win seems to be slipping out of reach, remember, that killing Heroes that are holding Nemestice Embers allows you to pick them up. Out of the many Nemestice games I’ve played, the few comebacks were primarily due to destroying a hero with twelve ember charges and running amok after stealing them. However, the opposite is obviously true, and certain heroes can take advantage of Nemestice Embers significantly more than you might be able to. Check out this video of a buffed Zeusspamming his global ultwith up to thirteen Embers, and absolutely massacring the other team. There is a fair amount of room for eccentricity in Nemestice, so prepare yourself by focusing on objectives, farm, and ganking, and all should be well.
